Counseling psychology expert to give lecture Oct. 14

LAWRENCE - The University of Kansas Department of Educational Psychology has invited Sharon Bowman, an expert in diversity, mentoring and trauma psychology, as the keynote speaker at the inaugural Lichtenburg Lecture Series. 
Bowman, a board-certified counseling psychologist, fellow of the American Psychological Association and past president of the Society of Counseling Psychology, will present “Cross-cultural Supervision & Mentorship.” The lecture will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 14, in the Centennial Room of the Kansas Union. The event is free and open to the public. 
Bowman currently serves as a professor and chair of the Department of Counseling Psychology, Social Psychology and Counseling at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She teaches doctoral courses in supervision and advanced diversity as well as master’s courses in mental health counseling and practicum at Ball State.
The Lichtenburg Lecture Series was established in fall 2016 by former associate dean and professor emeritus James Lichtenburg as an annual event, designed to bring professionals from around the country to KU to discuss topics in psychology, counseling, health and research.
