LAWRENCE — Scot Pollard and his wife, Dawn, in partnership with the School of Education, will host the fourth annual Pollard Beach Bowling Party on Friday, Jan. 26, at Royal Crest Bowling Lanes.
On-site registration will open at 5:30 p.m., and the two-hour tournament is scheduled to begin at 6:15 p.m. with prizes and awards to follow. Awards will be given to participants for Best Team Name, Best Team Outfit and Best Decorated Lane. In addition, the team with the highest score at the end of the two hours will receive the tournament’s traveling bowling pin trophy.
The tournament is one of school’s newer alumni events and is intended to engage alumni while supporting School of Education student scholarship recipients.
The tournament is open to the public, and all ages and abilities are welcome to participate. Interested bowlers are required to register a team of five individuals for a team. Online registration can be found here.
“Dawn and I are pleased to continue with this newest event to raise money for the school, and we look forward to getting back to Lawrence during the colder season,” Pollard said.
Lane sponsorship opportunities are also available for those who are not able to gather a team or make it to the Lawrence area. Businesses and individuals who are interested in sponsoring a bowling lane for the tournament will need to complete the online sponsorship registration here.
Current sponsors include Wayne & Larry’s Sports Bar & Grill, Jock’s Nitch, KU Athletics, Original Retro Brand, Salty Iguana and NIC Inc.
“Scot and Dawn continue to amaze us with their support for the school’s current and future students,” said Rick Ginsberg, dean of the School of Education. “Plus, we are always guaranteed to have a good time.”
