KU School of Education National Advisory Board
Updates From The Chair
My experiences with the KU School of Education began in 1989, and I began my role as chair of the KU School of Education National Advisory Board (NAB) in November 2014.
The NAB works on several levels to support the School. There are a number of activities through the year to help support our efforts. As we kicked off 2015, Scot and Dawn Pollard donated their time as very gracious hosts, comedians, and all around great people at the First Annual Pollard's Luau in Larrytown. It was a roaring success with over 25 bowling teams participating in various costumes and having a GREAT time. Many thanks to Sherrie Saathoff who worked to get all the teams organized and took care of registration before and during the event. It was a great experience due to her diligence and attention to detail. The shirts that were distributed are sure to become collector's items. Given that this is the "First Annual Luau" watch for the details on the second annual event. You won't want to miss it.
Two new staff members came on board in the fall of 2014. Brian Friedman, serving as KU Endowment Association Development Director, and Janelle Laudick, our new marketer, have provided great insight and creativity as we forge ahead. Brian hit the ground running last fall as he continued the efforts to grow endowments for the School. Janelle has also taken great initiatives in her short time with us as she has brought many creative ideas to us for marketing the wonderful opportunities that are available at the School of Education – as well as helping the Board update its identity and presence in the supportive role it plays for the School.
The next few years will continue to be very productive for the Board. I’d like to thank the new 2015 board members for committing to our alumni efforts. We are still looking for 2015 candidates for our board. Members serve a three-year term, meet twice a year at KU or by conference call, and serve on at least one committee.
If you are interested in participating in our upcoming events, and/or serving on the Board, please let us know here.
Thank you, Dean Ginsberg, for this opportunity to serve. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!
