Equipment and Media

You can scroll down to see various equipment available for use in the Learning Resource Center.

Meeting Room ManagerTo see availability of checkout items such as camcorders, laptops, projectors see the Equipment Calendar at the Meeting Room Manager. You will need to log in with: "Guest" as both the name and Password.

Reservations can be made by contacting the SOE Help Desk.

Printers

Students may print in the Gale Sayers Computer lab, in the Learning Resource Center, at a cost of .08 cents per page which is charged to your KU Card. Money must be on card in order to print. $8 is added to student's cards at the beginning of each semester.

Poster Printer

The Learning Resource Center has a state-of-the-art HP DesignJet 800 color printer capable of printing banners, posters and charts at various dimensions from 11 X 17 to 42 X 40 and larger.


Photocopiers

Photocopiers

For the convenience of students, the Learning Resource Center has a copy machine that is available for student and guest use. Copies are 10 cents per page. LRC staff can assist patrons with an necessary modifications (i.e. stapling, sorting, enlarging/shrinking, and lightening/darkening the resolution). Our copiers do not accept the KU Smart Card.


Laminating Machine

The Learning Resource Center has a laminating machine that can laminate posters, printouts, and signs at no charge to education students.


Wireless Mobile Lab

Wireless Mobile Lab

The Learning Resource Center offers a wireless mobile cart for instruction. The cart contains up to 15 notebook computers all with wireless internet connections. A deskjet printer is also available with this mobile lab. Faculty members may reserve the cart for classroom use and/or demonstration of technology.


CPS Units

CPS Units

The Classroom Performance System (CPS) is a classroom tool consisting of hand-held interactive student response pads and allows for data collection and feedback. Students can use the response pads to elicit a response confidentially while promoting interactive learning, providing classroom interaction for quizzes, formal exams or surveys. Feedback is instantaneous and instructors may track student comprehension or course material by tracking progress at all times. Instructors may view class reports in a variety of familiar digital format (e.g. Word, Excel, HTML and PDF).

The Learning Resource Center has ten student-use Dell Latitude D600 notebook computers available to checkout for School of Education students. These machines are equipped with Dial-up, wireless or standard Ethernet connection, Internet Explorer and Microsoft Office programs . With 1.60 GHz processors and 512 Megabytes of RAM and swappable floppy and DVD drives, these notebook computers are configured for most student needs.

Faculty/Staff Laptops

The Learning Resource Center also has a limited number of laptops available for checkout by faculty or staff to take to present at conferences, take minutes etc. These laptops vary, but all have Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint on them and some have ethernet or dial up internet access.


Projectors

A variety of projectors are available for checkout through the LRC, including large and small versions of NoteVision LCD projectors that can be hooked up to a computer, DVD/VCR, or digital overhead, a slide projector, and a portable transparency projector.

The Learning Resource Center has a variety of digital cameras, digital and VHS camcorders available to School of Education students, faculty and staff for short-term checkout. The cameras pictured below represent some of the various reservable types/models.

TV/VCRs/DVDs/Other

School of Education students, faculty and staff may reserve a TV/VCR unit, an individual VCR or DVD player, ELMO, polycom, tape recorder, headphones etc. for short-term checkout. The items pictured below represent some of the various reservable types/models. Almost all School of Education classrooms are already equipped with a VCR and many already have DVD.

The Learning Resource Center also supports a collection of education related books, children's books, kits, reserves, textbooks and journals and other printed materials available for checkout.
