Overview of Academic Advising Services

At the School of Education and Human Sciences, your academic success is our primary focus. We work as a team to provide you a range of academic support services to ensure you understand your options and rights as a student. You want to achieve your goals at KU; and we want you to as well.

Jayhawk Academic Advising

Our dedicated academic advisors are with you from day one. Academic advisors serve as your primary connection to the various professional & social networks available.

Our staff work with undergraduate students before and after they are admitted to their professional program. Appointments are available year-round on weekdays, and campus-wide drop-in advising is available both in-person and virtually on Mondays and Thursdays from 12:30-4:30pm CT. At the graduate level, we can point you in the right direction. Let us know how we can help. It's never too early to begin preparing for your academic program at KU.

Current KU Student

If you are currently a KU student with a declared interest in a School of Education & Human Sciences program, you will work with a member of our advising team. We want to hear from you often, and we strongly encourage you to meet with us each semester to discuss courses, career goals, professional development opportunities, and to ensure you stay on track for graduation.

High or Transfer School Student

Are you a high school or transfer student interested in attending KU to become an educator or human sciences professional? We encourage you to schedule a formal campus visit through the KU Office of Admissions. Once you have registered for your visit, we'll coordinate with their team to schedule you an appointment with one of undergraduate student ambassadors. We’re excited to connect with you.

Graduate Student Advising

We understand that graduate students attribute much of their academic satisfaction and productivity into the quality of their advising experiences. Academic advising at the graduate level within the School of Education and Human Sciences is a service managed individually by each academic department.

In most cases, graduate students will be assigned a faculty advisor upon admission to their graduate program; and at the doctoral level most graduate students are admitted with a specific faculty advisor already designated. We encourage you to visit your department's web page for more information.
