The 4th Annual KU Professionals for Disability (KUPD) Student Conference

Tools for Preparing Conference Posters

To assist students in formatting and designing posters for KUPD’s Annual Student Conference and for other events, we are providing the following relevant resources. Linked here is a Poster Tips word document that includes various web pages related to poster development and design that will take you step by step through the process of designing a poster using Microsoft PowerPoint. Also included is information addressing the top four trouble issues for students: formatting, font size, design, and external poster scoring. Finally, we are making available samples of award winning posters created by KU doctoral students and staff to inspire your own poster presentation.

Theme:  Research to Practice

KUPD is soliciting presentations from doctoral and master’s level students in the Department of Special Education, School of Education, and other disability related fields and departments across KU for this student led conference. The KUPD Student Conference is designed as a forum for students. It provides an opportunity for KU students to present their research in preparation for master’s thesis/projects, oral exams, upcoming conferences, and dissertation defenses. Options for this conference include:  presentations and poster presentations.

If you are interested in presenting at this conference, please complete the Presentation/Poster Proposal Form and drop off your completed form addressed to Jan Klein, KUPD Proposal, 521 JRP. The committee will begin reviewing proposals on October 1, 2007. While they will review all proposals, they strongly encourage early submission. The committee will make its final decisions in late November with notification of acceptance sent by December 1, 2007.
