SOE Current Junior and Senior Information Regarding Special Education Options

Did you know that you can have a Special Education Provisional Endorsement when you finish your professional year?

University of Kansas SOE students may begin special education courses as undergraduates and also may take graduate-level courses during the fall and spring of their professional year. By completing three special education courses, students become eligible for provisional endorsement, allowing them to work as a special education teacher before completion of the entire program (typically 18 hours). A provisional license is effective for two years, providing time to finish the remaining courses while working full time as a special education teacher.
