School of Education offering 3rd KC session of free professional development

OVERLAND PARK — The School of Education at the University of Kansas will host the third and final session of the 2017-2018 Strategies Event Series at 9 a.m. April 28 at the Edwards Campus.

“The Shared Leadership Approach to Reaching a Collaborative Vision will feature Senior Lecturer Joseph Novak and Professor of the Practice Deborah Perbeck from KU's Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies. The session is designed for building- and district-level leaders as well as learning/instructional coaches in PK-12 settings.

The session is free and open to the public, though an RSVP is required.

The first session of the series, held Nov. 11, 2017, featured Reva Friedman, associate professor in the Department of Curriculum & Teaching; and Cindy Swartz, technology integration coordinator for USD 232 De Soto. They presented “Mindset Makes the Difference | Part II.”

The second session of the series, held Feb. 24, featured Karen Jorgensen, multi-term lecturer from the Department of Curriculum & Teaching. She presented “English Learners: The Myths & Realities.”

The 2018-2019 Strategies Event Series session dates will be announced during fall 2018. More information about the series can be found here.
