Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
This concentration examines theories of education and educational problems within the disciplinary domains of history, philosophy and the social sciences. Perennial questions of social and educational inequality, social justice, and the goals and purposes of education are examined in the scholarly traditions associated with each of these fields. Courses of study in this area are flexible and reflect the needs and aspirations of each student, although most focus on a particular scholarly domain. Through individualized programs of study, this concentration prepares scholarly researchers, teachers and educational leaders for a variety of settings.
KU's concentrations in Historical, Philosophical and Social Foundations of Education are supported by good ties to the university's strong liberal arts programs in History, Philosophy and Sociology, along with American Studies, Economics, Political Science and Public Administration.
