Educational Leadership and Policy Studies
The Educational Administration concentration prepares teachers and administrators for leadership roles in school settings. Programs stress fundamental fields of knowledge and educational policy development necessary for effective leadership of elementary and secondary teachers and their schools. Degree and licensure requirements can be satisfied simultaneously if goals are declared in advance.
The University of Kansas offers a master's degree and two different doctoral degree programs in K-12 educational leadership. These three programs are housed in the Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) Department in the School of Education. Course work for the Masters and Ed.D is offered at both the Lawrence and Edwards campus in Overland Park, Kansas. About eighty percent of the coursework for the Ph.D. is offered at both campuses with the remainder scheduled only at the Lawrence campus. Detailed descriptions of these programs can be found below.
