Advising Transfer Students
Transfer students should contact the School of Education advising center before transferring to KU to (1) insure that they are eligible for admission to the School of Education and (2) are able to complete an undergraduate program in a timely manner. Admission to KU, even as a pre-Education student, does not guarantee admission to the School of Education. All admission requirements for School of Education programs, including minimum grade point averages, must be completed.
- Meeting with Pre-Education Advisors:
Make sure to meet with an education advisor before you decide to come to KU. A student may also contact an advisor via the phone or email. However, we always encourage a trip to the School of Education if possible.
- Important Information about your Grade Point Average:
Please be aware that KU does not honor grade replacement policies from other institutions. In addition, some classes do not transfer to KU and their grades will not be included in the GPA. Because of this, the grade point average used to evaluate you for admission to the SOE may differ significantly from the one at your current institution. For this reason, it is very important to consult with an SOE advisor about your admissibility before coming to KU. Please keep in mind that the average GPA for admitted teacher education students is around a 3.3 and the average GPA for admitted Health, Sport and Exercise Science student is around a 3.0.
